The Mountain West filed a motion Monday to dismiss a Pac-12 lawsuit challenging the millions of dollars of poaching fees that were included in a football-scheduling agreement between Oregon State, Washington State and the MW.

Two months after the Pac-12 took the Mountain West to court over the legality of a penalty in the conferences' scheduling agreement, the defendant fired back.

The tumultuous relationship between the Pac-12 Conference and the Mountain West Conference spawned an antitrust lawsuit in September, but in a newly filed motion to dismiss, the MWC says the Pac-12’s case is “little more than a gripe” and asserts the Pac-12 has confused antitrust law’s protection of “competition” with the conference trying to suppress
