BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The Powerball jackpot has surged to its biggest amount of the year, reaching an estimated $643 million ahead of Wednesday night’s drawing. The pot grew after nobody won all six numbers from Monday night’s $605 million drawing.
Grant Hardin, a one-time police chief, evaded authorities for more than 10 days in the rocky terrain and dense vegetation of rural northwest Arkansas. His prison escape plan, hatched over several months, included Sharpie markers and a handmade badge.
According to lottery officials, a $1 million Powerball ticket was sold at a Circle K (2990 N Arizona Ave.) in Chandler. Besides the Powerball win, a Fantasy 5 jackpot worth $156,000 was hit at a QuikTrip (816 W University Dr.) in Mesa.
