Rockaway Township, New Jersey wildfire evacuation orders lifted, officials say
ROCKAWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Homes were evacuated in Morris County, New Jersey on Friday because of a wildfire. The New Jersey Forest Fire Service began battling the Craigmeur Lookout wildfire in Rockaway Township on Thursday night. It started in the area of Notch Road and moved swiftly.

Forest fire crews said they made "substantial" progress in containing the wildfire in Rockaway Township, Morris County, which started Thursday.
Craigmeur Lookout Wildfire in Rockaway Township at 140 acres is 30% contained
As of 8 p.m. Friday, the wildfire was at 140 acres with 30 percent contained, according to the New Jersey Forest Fire Service Facebook post. The number of structures threatened (13) and how many structures had been evacuated (eight) on Green Pond Road remained the same as reported earlier Friday.
Officials: Wildfire in Rockaway Township impacts over 170 acres, 50% contained
Eight homes have been evacuated as flames have now reached the backyards of properties along Green Pond Road. Officials say that 13 homes are in danger.
