Oklahoma softball knew it had a challenge ahead when reigning SEC Pitcher of the Year Karlyn Pickens rolled into town. In last week’s Lady Vols' win over Arkansas, Pickens set the record for fastest-recorded pitch in softball history when she was clocked at 78.
Tennessee softball beats Oklahoma, wins series in Norman
Tennessee softball won its series at Oklahoma with a 5-3 Sunday victory. Karen Weekly and the No. 9 Lady Vols (29-7, 5-4 SEC) defeated the Patty Gasso and the No. 2 Sooners (31-3, 9-3) behind a strong offensive performance, all of which came in the fourth inning. Laura Mealer and Ella Dodge drove in all three of Tennessee's runs.
