NORFOLK, Va. - South Carolina State spoiled Homecoming for Michael Vick and Norfolk State in front of a record-breaking crowd at William "Dick" Price Stadium, rolling to a 51–20 victory on Saturday afternoon.

Norfolk State head coach Michael Vick made some changes to his defensive staff this week, firing a number of coaches. It didn't do the Spartans much good on Saturday.

NORFOLK (WAVY) – The rough season continued Saturday for Norfolk State, as the Spartans loss 51-20 on homecoming to the visiting South Carolina State Bulldogs. NSU Falls to 1-7, 0-1 on the season.

South Carolina State University entered campus-wide lockdown Saturday night after gunshots were reported at the Hugine Suites dormitory, the school said.

After an uncharacteristic muffed punt in the fourth quarter and a couple overthrows from Ty Simpson that would've resulted in explosive plays, Alabama delivered in crunch time, the first coming on Simpson's two-point toss to Cuevas and then Lawson's strip of Sellers.

William Atkins IV threw four touchdown passes, Jordan Smith caught two of them, and South Carolina State routed Norfolk State 51-20 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opener for both teams on Saturday.
