In our family we had a white and black Opel Kadett D GTE as a 3-door. Back then, the car was a real GTE and technically much more modern than the Ford Escord and VW Golf.

Out of the 2.1 million cars produced from 1979 to 1984, the most interesting is the 1983 Opel Kadett GTE. Its 1.8-liter engine was good for 115 horsepower and a top speed of 187 km/h (116 mph).

Models currently advertised for sale on the Car and Classic website, range from a 1964 Opel Kadett A for £5,500 (€6,500) to a 1976 GTE Gr.4 Conrero which is going for £35,900 (€41,900).
