President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on Sunday appointed Major-General Andriy Hnatov as Ukraine's chief of the general staff as Kyiv seeks to speed up army reform.

Hnatov, who was formerly appointed as the deputy chief of the General Staff in February, will be replacing Anatolii Barhylevych, who took the role in February 2024.

Today, at my request, President of Ukraine appointed Major General Andrii Viktorovych Hnatov as chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced on Facebook.
