The producers of last year's TIFF breakout discuss India's official submission for the Oscars and the crucial themes and subtle storytelling that made "Lost Ladies" a hit.

When asked how Kiran Rao reacted to his big decision, Aamir said, "She asked me to come to the balcony to talk alone. She said, 'You are leaving us'. I said, 'No, I am not leaving you, I am leaving films'. She said, 'You are a child of cinema, and if you are leaving films, you are leaving us.'"

In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Kiran Rao opened up about wanting to branch out her production house, Kindling Pictures. She shared her desire to work with other producers and other studios as that will help them understand the capabilities of their own production house.
