BRICS leaders have issued a joint declaration covering a wide range of issues from the reform of the United Nations (UN) to ongoing global conflicts, following the association's summit that took place on Wednesday in Kazan. The declaration included 134 provisions in total, one of which addressed the reform of the UN.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday that many countries aspire to join the BRICS intergovernmental organization. Speaking at the organization's summit in the Russian city of Kazan, Putin said there are more than 30 countries that want to join BRICS.

Leaders of the nations in the BRICS grouping, which accounts for 37% of global economic output, predicted its influence would grow as they met in Russia on Tuesday, outlining common projects ranging from a grain exchange to a cross-border payments system.
