China Defence Minister Dong Jun has been placed under investigation as part of a wide-ranging anti-corruption probe that has roiled the top ranks of the People's Liberation Army, the Financial Times reported on Wednesday.

China has launched an investigation of Defence Minister Dong Jun due to suspicion of corruption, according to reports. Citing current and former US officials familiar with the situation, British newspaper The Financial Times said on Wednesday that Dong is the latest official to be caught up in a broad crackdown on corruption in the country’s military.

Dong is the third Chinese defense chief in less than two years to be snagged in Xi Jinping's anti-corruption net.
