Former NBA star Derrick Rose has a strong relationship with Tom Thibodeau, considering he played for the former New York Knicks head coach in three different cities. And that, of course, means someone had to ask him about the firing.

Rose, who shared his MVP run with Thibodeau in Chicago and later reunited with him in Minnesota and New York, called the firing a win-win situation for all involved. Thibodeau walks away with financial security. The Knicks retain a loaded roster led by All-NBA guard Jalen Brunson and remain poised to contend in a wide-open Eastern Conference.

Rose reunited with Thibodeau, his longtime coach on the Chicago Bulls, as a member of the Knicks late in his career
