Thousands of demonstrators took to the streets from Times Square to the National Mall on Saturday, waving flags and holding signs calling for accountability and democracy during nationwide “No Kings Day" protests.

A crowd of 50, including some of the city's most prominent religious leaders, held an interfaith vigil before joining a demonstration in Times Square.

A proposed Caesars Palace casino in Times Square that’s backed by Jay-Z lost its bid for a lucrative New York City-area gambling license on Wednesday after running into fierce opposition from Broadway theater owners and producers who were worried about its potential impact on the theater district.

The arrests, on the crowded sidewalks of Midtown Manhattan, rattled migrants residing at a hotel and shook the theater district, which is heavily trafficked by tourists.
