Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts received a Citizen of the Year Award in Philadelphia on Tuesday night, and not because he led the city’s NFL team to victory in Super Bowl LIX. Ten Philadelphians were honored at the annual event hosted by The Philadelphia Citizen for their work that made a positive impact in the city.

Super Bowl-winning Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts received the Philadelphia Citizen of the Year award on Tuesday night, presented to him by Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro.

Gov. Josh Shapiro presented Hurts with the award for his campaign to cool Philly public schools and his work through his foundation. He also watched as other community members were celebrated.

Hurts was chosen for his foundation's work for getting air conditioners into Philadelphia schools, as well as for his all-female management team.
