A game between Angel City and the Utah Royals should not have continued after Savy King collapsed on the field and had to be hospitalized, the National Women's Soccer League said Friday.

After receiving criticism for finishing a match last week despite Angel City FC defender Savy King collapsing on the field, the NWSL announced Friday that it has changed its protocols for similar situations in the future.

One week after the controversy developed, the NWSL has addressed its decision to continue the Utah Royals’ game against Angel City FC on May 9 following an on-field medical scare involving a player.
