Boston Red Sox third baseman Alex Bregman returned to the lineup on Friday, albeit far from full strength. Initially projected to miss 12 weeks with a right quad injury, Bregman instead only needed seven weeks.

The Red Sox have played 95 games this season and only once have they resorted to a bullpen game in lieu of using a conventional starting pitcher.
