Jan 22, 2025 · Having driven my old neighbors '55 Buick with the 322 engine, nothing could likely be done to make that motor shred up a stock driveline, it was just a nice gutless cruiser that still turned heads as it went down the road. He ended up selling the Buick and built a nice '30 Ford roadster. That's him and part of his Ford in my profile pic.

Jun 12, 2013 · The '77/'78 Seville has 4 3/4 inch bolt pattern, unlike the '79, which is 5" like the stock '55 Buick. Other good candidates are Mercury and Edsel 9" rears from the late '50s (also 5" bolt circle), Chevy Pickups from about 1971, Olds and Pontiac from the late '50s thru early '60s. Early '90s Caprice/Buick Roadmaster also have 5" bolt circle.

Feb 22, 2010 · The Buick torque tube did the "heavy lifting" in the stock setup. The diagonal bars were just to keep the housing square with the torque tube and did not control axle 'wrap' on acceleration or decel. I am currently doing a similar swap on my '40 Super and am using the truck style arms and stock Buick panhard bar.

Apr 28, 2024 · I have a 55 Buick I picked that was sitting for about 17 years. Rebuilt fuel pump, replaced water pump, full tune up, new oil and she started right up in first try. Engine runs great and is quiet. After warming up the engine I checked the trans fluid and added a a quarts as it was low. No leaks on engine or trans.
