Ukraine produces grains, oilseeds, vegetable oils, tree nuts, meat, fish, dairy products, fruits and vegetables, herbs, and other agricultural products. The main crops grown in Ukraine are sunflower seed, wheat, corn, soybeans, rapeseed, barley, and sugar beets.

However, the full-scale invasion by Russia has inflicted serious damage and losses to the agricultural sector , leading to increased volatility in global commodity prices and exacerbating food security issues worldwide. In this context, creating fair and accurate projections for Ukraine’s agricultural sector becomes a necessity.

Agriculture is the third largest contributor to Ukraine's economy, after services and industry. In 2021, agriculture represented 10.9 % of Ukraine's GDP2 and employed 2.5 million people, around 14 % of the total.
