The Southern Boobook is Australia's smallest and also most common owl. It is also known as the 'Mopoke', can you hear why? These owls feed mainly at night on insects and small mammals like mice. They locate their prey by listening and watching from a tall perch and they take flying prey like moths and small bats in mid-air while ground prey are pounced upon. We received a Boobook Owl from another local farmer tonight 🦉 Always good people, always doing their bit to help wildlife and reach out when they find something in need. Unfortunately, this is becoming a really common sight these days. With so much barbed wire fencing around, birds — and especially owls for some reason — keep getting caught up in it. This is the third one we’ve had this year. Some come in too far gone, wings de-gloved down to bone and tendon, and there’s just nothing you can do
