The annual Linlithgow Marches return to one of Scotland’s most ancient Royal Burghs on Tuesday 17th June 2025. Linlithgow is one of Scotland’s most ancient Burghs, having received a royal charter from King Robert II in 1389. This gave the town’s authorities the right to hold markets, claim revenue and administer the port of Blackness. A condition was an annual payment to the king – and the need to patrol the town’s properties
